Getting started with GPDoc

Sign up, open a file, and start editing Markdown across GPDoc's supported platforms.

Getting started does not require a command-line tool, Homebrew, or a workspace setup process. Sign up, choose the GPDoc surface that fits your work, and open or create a document.

Open GPDoc on the web and create an account. You can also use the macOS, iPhone, or iPad app from the Apple App Store.

Use the web app for the fastest start, macOS or iOS for a native app, VS Code from the Visual Studio Marketplace for editor-based work, or Open VSX for Cursor and compatible IDEs. The file model stays consistent, while controls can differ by platform.

Create a document, notebook, slide deck, script, dataset, or drawing. You can also open an existing local GPDoc or supported Markdown-based file from the current client's file picker.

Edit the source, use preview or split view where available, and add comments or suggestions when a file needs review. Shared files can show live presence and cursors for connected collaborators.

Use the current file's File menu to export a local copy, share with collaborators, move content to Google Docs or Microsoft 365, save through GitHub, or publish supported HTML through GitHub Pages.

Local and shared files

Local files stay in storage you select. A file is stored online only when you explicitly share it or use an online provider or publishing workflow.
